The ongoing development of personal and professional skills is known as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). CPD can take the form of a variety of different activities at all levels of the profession. Attending conferences, meetings and training sessions as well as reading and writing reports all contribute to CPD in the green space sector. For examples of some of the CPD that organisations and individuals in the sector are engaging in, click here.

IPGS recognises that if the sector is to continue to develop, the skills and knowledge of those who work within it must be regularly recorded. GreenSKILL is a unique online database dedicated to improving skills and training within the green space sector.
The system enables individuals to record their skills, qualifications and continuing professional development (CPD), allowing employers to manage the skill base of their workforce.
It is relevant to everyone working in parks and green spaces including volunteers, those just starting work, career changers, site staff, senior designers and managers. To access your greenSKILL account, click here.
